( Hanjia Design Group of China, Hangzhou 310005, China)Abstract: Performance-Based Seismic Design( PBSD) theory is a seismic design theory that is widely researched all over the world currently. It is a design concept that emphasize on performance control and resource optimization. It is more scientific, more reasonable and flexible than current seismic design concept. And it is a main guidance idea and direction of seismic design in the future. This paper discussed some key points on PBSD from aspects of seismic fortification level, principles of performance levels establishment and selection of performance objective and so on. The importance of details of seismic design to achieving performance design was also emphasized in this paper.
