The structural model and the removal locations of the key elements were determined according to the conceptual analysis. The design strength ofthe materials, loads combination and failure criteria for structural elements followed the provisions addressed in American and Chinese design codes respectively. The results show that, the structure meet the design requirements of resisting progressive collapse due to the appropriate redundancy degree and relative high reliability of the structure in original design.
Keywords: local suspension structure; progressive collapse; alternate path method
