1002-848X(2012)10-0041-07Structural system research of the Fangta Tower in Foshan Cultural Complex and its structural design beyond the code specificationLei Qiang,Cheng Hui,Liao Wei,Ma Hui,Lin Fengjun,Wang Yang(Arup International Consultants (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Branch, Shenzhen 518048, China )Abstract: Having considered the architecturally special-looking shape of the Fangta Tower and the construction requirements of the facade, the structural plan of external diagrid and internal core wall was put forward, in order to satisfy the beyond-the-code design requirements, in terms of seismic and wind resistance, as well as other design considerations. Aiming at the most structurally-concerned aspects in this building, numerous plans were compared, an in-depth analysis was performed and detailed calculations were carried out, including nonlinear analysis, joint analysis, elasto-plastic analysis under rare earthquake, wind vibration analysis and construction simulation, in order to achieve the safety and reliability of the structure. The project has passed the expert panel review for seismic and is now in the construction phase. 2004,6(2):1-13.[5]FEMA356 Prestandard and commentary for the seismic rehabilitation of buildings[S].
