[摘要]  任何結(jié)構(gòu)或體系在設(shè)計時最應(yīng)關(guān)注的問題是居住者的安全。但在最近的幾次大震之后,人們越來越關(guān)注能夠在大震后快速恢復(fù)使用的可恢復(fù)性結(jié)構(gòu)及生命線工程。本文討論了可恢復(fù)性社區(qū)的工程要素,強調(diào)要增強那些對于社區(qū)震后恢復(fù)很重要的結(jié)構(gòu)物和生命線工程的震后運轉(zhuǎn)能力,及增強居民就地維修房屋的能力。

Lessons from recent earthquakes: the need for more resilient cities

Abstract: Safety of occupants is of paramount importance in the design of any structure or system. However, in the aftermath of recent major earthquakes, worldwide attention has increasingly focused on the need for resilient structures and lifelines that are able to return to service quickly following a major earthquake. In this paper, engineering aspects of resilient communities are discussed, focusing on increasing the post-earthquake operability of those structures and lifelines critical to a community's needs in the aftermath ofa major earthquake and the ability of occupants to "shelter-in-place" during repairs.
