The suspendome system is a new-style space structures developed on the bases of single-layer dome structures and　tensegrity systems.The background and the structural principles of suspendome system are introduced,and current research situation is described.The influences of prestress and rise-span ratio are analyzed. Some typical engineering applications are introduced. The key problems are proposed for further research.
