The characteristics and up-to-date progresses of four major design methods in the design codes to resist progressive collapse were elaborated and compared, including conceptual design method, tie force method, alternate path method, as well as specific local resistance method, providing reference for the engineering application and the formation of Chinese codes for resistance of progressive collapse.Keywords: resist progressive collapse; design code; tie force method; alternate path method; dynamic effect
