Co.,Ltd., Zhuhai 519015, China)Abstract:A two-way compound beam string structure is proposed which is a new style of spatial structures, to meet the visual requirement of transparent roofs. Taking the natural lighting roof for the lobby of the library information center in the new campus of Zhejiang University as an example, we presents the method and procedures for the analysis and design of the structure based on the understanding of its three states. The behaviors of the structure, including the structural stability, integral stiffness, wind resistance and etc., have been investigated and analyzed. Discuss on the further optimization of the structure is presented. And the fabrication for the key joints of the structure and the construction method used are described.Keywords:beam string structure; two-way compound; structural analysis; fabrication
