Part of the center is a large space sports stadiums with long span about 55 meters and short side 47 meters. Because of the planted roof, the gravity load of the stadiums has increases nearly ten times compared with the ordinary light roof. The triangular pyramid space truss structure was determined as the optimization scheme by comparison. This paper summarized some design experience and practice, such as the optimization of the bar, the rubber bearing design, the setting of the limiting device and the boundary treatment, to provide a reference for the structure design of the middle span heavy load roof.Keywords：triangular pyramid space truss; rubber bearing; restrict bearing; heavy load roof
